Diminishing the Difference
A number of children at Marsden access additional support either in the classroom or through targeted intervention. In these small groups they work on specific next step targets to move their learning forward and ensure that they make accelerated progress.
We interviewed the children on the impact that these groups were having on their learning.
The children shared their feedback via video.
"After working on my targets with Mrs Shephard I can now use noun phrases in my writing. My punctuation is MUCH better" (Year 5) "Reading with Mr Stansfield has helped my confidence increase. I have achieved my target to use punctuation and text type to read with expression" (Year 4) "I used to hate maths and have a 'can't do it' feeling but now I know I just can't do it yet!" (Year 3) "1-1 reading with Mrs Akhtar has helped me read faster and I enjoy talking about the story" (Year 3) "Phonics with Mrs Saba has helped me get better at spelling and reading. I can read to my family now!" (Year 3) "I used to not like reading because the words were tricky and I didn't know what they meant but now I love reading. Thank you Miss Kelly's for letting me be in your reading group" (Year 6) "In small groups I feel more confident to put my hand up and offer ideas. Fast Forward Grammar has helped me use vocabulary to add detail to my writing" (Year 6) "I used to worry about maths but now I actually enjoy it! Mrs Thompson's Maths group has helped me work at my own pace and I can now break down a problem and solve it" (Year 6)
